WE ARE A COMMUNITY

Here you are not just an employee. We strive to maintain that caring, small-company feeling by getting to know each other, not only at work but also during social events and at charitable causes.

WE WORK TOGETHER AND PLAY TOGETHER

It’s the people that make our culture great. We would describe it as social, supportive and team-based. It’s not all work, it’s also fun.

WE TAKE
HEALTH & SAFETY
SERIOUSLY

WE HAVE A GENUINE CONCERN FOR THE WELL-BEING OF EVERYONE ON EVERY PROJECT

Ventana implements the following through our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Program:

  • People-first philosophy

  • ‘Relationships to build on’

  • Educational and consultative approach to HSE

  • Collaborative work environment with subcontractors to share in the success of our HSE Program

Committed to Health and Safety

We work hard to ensure that all employees and sub-trades on our sites are safe and emphasize the importance of workplace safety through proactive supervision and management. We embody safe construction practices to reflect our effectiveness as a contractor and as a good corporate citizen, as well as a genuine concern for the well-being of everyone on our projects.

We have spent considerable time and effort to implement a comprehensive HSE Program, obtain Certificate of Recognition (COR™) certification with the BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA) to exceed WorkSafeBC requirements, and improve job site safety. Ventana’s HSE Program is audited annually  to maintain COR™ certifications and enhance HSE.

To ensure successful implementation of our HSE Program, we employ a full-time Health, Safety and Environment Director to oversee Ventana’s HSE Program, along with full-time site-level HSE Coordinators to coordinate job site safety; in addition to our safety-conscious Project Superintendents and Supervisors that oversee safe construction operations. Our on-site team ensures all safety requirements and protocols are in place prior to starting work on a project and continue through to project completion.

Ventana is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for every employee, worker and visitor on-site, and in order to deliver this, we continually review and update our HSE Program. We require that every contractor working on our projects has a WorkSafeBC account in good standing for the duration of each contract.

WE GET INVOLVED

Together we are committed to making an impact on our community, through financial support and donation of our time and services.

IT’S MORE THAN GUIDELINES.

IT’S OUR MINDSET.

In addition to LEED® projects, Ventana has also worked on, or is currently working on, BuiltGreen®, US LEED® for Midrise, REAP (the University of British Columbia’s residential green building program) and Passive House projects.

It’s not just about following guidelines, however. We believe in environmental responsibility for all of our projects, and implement erosion and sediment control guidelines, waste recycling guidelines, low volatile organic compound (VOC) guidelines and indoor air quality guidelines on every Ventana job site and in the office.
