STATEMENT OF WORK

Pre-construction and construction

A seismic upgrade was completed that incorporated structural steel supports, seismic bracing, and masonry wall reinforcement with reinforcing steel and fibre reinforced polymer wrap. There were several unique circumstances with this project, such as an unknown building condition and new seismic standards that were incorporated in the revised structure.

The seismic upgrade was scheduled to occur during an extended summer break to minimize work being done while the school was occupied. This project was tendered and planned well in advance to complete site measurements and pre-manufacturing of steel prior to the summer break. This sequencing plan reduced the lead time of most items allowing work to quickly proceed. Once occupancy was granted, a few miscellaneous items were completed on professional development days, in the evenings and on weekends.

The project was completed within the compressed time frame to ensure the school was operational when classes resumed in September. This project involved considerable planning and coordination with the Immaculate Conception Parish and Elementary School to accommodate requirements.
