Pre-construction, value engineering and construction

The Nickel is a 71,000-square-foot, four-storey retail, wholesale and office building with a two-level underground parkade. The Nickel blends striking contemporary design with efficient floor plates and high ceilings.

The site was formerly the home of a metal plating workshop and was heavily contaminated. Ventana completed extensive soil remediation and groundwater filtration prior to construction. The floor slabs were post-tensioned with high-strength tensioned steel strands to compress the slabs for additional strength and to reduce the number of columns required to support the floors.
