STATEMENT OF WORK
Design-assist, pre-construction, value engineering and construction
John Volken Academy is a multi-phase 100,000-square-foot, wood-frame development consisting of three buildings. Phased construction and occupancy of the buildings was completed over a 20-month period.
The first building is two storeys with administrative offices, gymnasium, vocational and post-secondary training space, and a commercial kitchen with dining room. The second building is two storeys with combined warehouse and office space, and fitness facilities. The three-storey, 100-bed John Volken Academy House is the third building on the nine-acre site.
The Academy’s practical approach to addiction treatment involves student participation in groups and peer to peer counselling. The Academy provides opportunities for students to gain work experience and continue their education through seminars, workshops and online course enrolment with universities and schools in North America.
John Volken Academy is a therapeutic community that offers 24-hour-a-day residential treatment. It is privately funded by the John Volken Foundation.
