STATEMENT OF WORK

Pre-construction, value engineering, sustainable strategic planning and construction

Mundell House is a 122,614-square-foot, six-storey, wood-frame residential building with 136 faculty rental suites. This REAP® Gold development consists of two six storey buildings that link together.

The east wing steps back at levels five and six to create a four-storey wall along Birney Avenue and Shrum Lane. Utilizing the existing grade change, the buildings have direct parkade access from Scholar’s Greenway, as well as a bike repair area. The project allocates extra bike storage and reduces car parking on site in support of the university’s goal of promoting a sustainable community environment. An open outlook pavilion is integrated with landscaping and tiered seating leading to courtyard space along Scholar’s Greenway.

Mundell House had stringent air tightness requirements and met TEDI and TEUI targets.

UBC applies Residential Environmental Assessment Program (REAP) Gold standards to all residential properties.
